I went to see MacGruber last night at my girlfriends request. Yes guys, she is that cool.
I found it crude, gory, adolescent, silly and stupid. I loved it!!!! My girlfriend suggested
we see it again and buy the DVD. Yeah, I know, pinch me, I must be dreaming and yes
she is real and not inflatable. I had read several reviews before going to see MacGruber.
All were negative. The NY Times asked "why does this film exist?" Indeed the MacGruber
film does exist. It exists because some of "us" don't have a problem turning the serious
switch off every now and again. Clearly the long success of SNL would prove that there
are many more of "us" out there. The R rating is well deserved for it's language and nudity.
I think if you are old enough to be familiar with MacGyver and TV, movies and music of that
era it adds to the level of comedy. Also you should be old enough and worldly enough to truly
appreciate all the levels of social and personal etiquette that are being violated, i.e.. the sex
scene which had the entire middle aged audience on the theatre floor in laughter. I didn't go
to this movie with great expectations, I just really like the MacGurber skit on SNL and like I
said she wanted to see it and who am I to argue with a woman who wants to see a a silly
guy film. Not this guy! So MacGruber over delivered on my expectations and kept me laughing
the entire movie.
