Pat Metheny is one of my biggest heroes. Its not just because he is one of the greatest guitarist ever. Or because he had such a huge impact on me as a guitarist and musician. Its not just because he has created a huge volume of music, in a multitude of styles, with a who's who of Jazz greats. Or because his tone and style of playing are distinctly Pat Metheny and have influenced generations of musician. Nope, those are good reasons but not the most important to me.
Pat Metheny embodies what I love most about music and that is, there is always so much more to learn and create. The journey of a true musician is life long and only as limited as we allow it. For knowledge and creativity are infinite. That to me is exciting and inspiring.
